Renwick Lodge - Large Holiday Cottage in the New Forest.

Renwick Lodge accommodates up to 30 people, all can dine together in one large kitchen/dining space on one side of the building, and can lounge together in an equally large open plan space on the other side. It consists of the main large Edwardian house, and can be taken, if numbers and availability permit, with the 'East Wing", a contemporary architect designed house built in it's grounds, just across the drive, which adds 5 more bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms and an extra wc/utility room to Renwick Lodge. Renwick Lodge is also available without the East Wing for up to 18 people.

Renwick Lodge New Forest Holiday Cottage is located in the South - West corner of the New Forest, at Walkford. The Forest itself is only a short drive, as are the beaches at Highcliffe in the opposite direction.

The area is easily reached by road, being close to the A35 which runs the picturesque route through the New Forest From Lyndhurst to Christchurch. Hinton Admiral Railway station is also within walking distance. Local shops and pubs are both within a few minutes walk, with Highliffe a short drive or a reasonable walk away which has restaurants, including a very good Thai restaurant and an excellent Chinese take-away, seafood restaurants, many cafés and coffee shops, as well as fish and chip shops and pubs, some with restaurants.

The en-suite bedroom in the East Wing

Beaches are at Highcliffe and also at Highcliffe Castle, a particularly quiet beach approached through woodland. The Castle and grounds, and tea room are also open to the public.

The whole of the New Forest is within easy reach by car, as is the quayside town of Christchurch, excellent for boating with rivers and the natural harbour formed by the Hengistbury Head spit.

The large lounge space, and the dining space, have contemporary working open fireplaces, and the floors have been fitted with newly sanded reclaimed floorboards.

The large modern open plan Kitchen at Renwick Lodge

The kitchen has granite worktops, new fitted appliances, a large range cooker, and large american type fridge/freezer with cold water and ice dispenser. It is open to the dining space which seats all 30 guests. This large kitchen serves the whole of Renwick Lodge, there is no second kitchen but there is a utility room when the east lodge is also taken. (there is also a washer/dryer in the kitchen for use when the East lodge is not taken).

Taken with the East wing, there are 13 bedrooms, 12 double rooms, one of which also contains adult size bunk beds, and one adult size bunk bedded room, 5 bath/shower rooms and 2 additional cloakrooms. Living space consists of a very large lounge for gathering and socializingon one side of the building, and a large kitchen & dining space with room at the table for all 30 guests on the other.

Without the east wing, Renwick Lodge has 7 double bedrooms, and an adult size bunk bedded room. Singles are added to one or two of the double rooms when occupancy is 17 or 18. There are two bathrooms and one separate shower room, and a further cloakroom.

The size of this large new forest cottage lends itself well to weekends for large family groups, birthday celebrations, hen weekends and stag weekends, and family holidays in the new forest, also being located near the south coast beaches and not far from the beaches at Bournemouth.

All reception rooms have open fireplaces, and the large lounge and the kitchen/dining space both have decking outside accessed by full width opening sliding & folding doors.

All the living spaces are situated in the main building, the east side has the large open kitchen/dining space which can seat all 30 guests, and the west side has the large lounge area. Both sides have bedrooms and bathrooms. The contemporary detached "East Wing", across the drive consists of 5 more bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms and a utility room / cloakroom.

Outside is a long private drive, with parking and turning at the end, including 2 car ports. Gardens cosist of an enclosed decked and lawned area at the end of the larger reception rooms, and a separate large enclosed deck and lawn just across the drive, behind the East Wing, available if required.

Renwick Lodge retains the original features including the wooden sliding sash windows and stripped pine paneled doors. The original cast iron fireplaces have been preserved, and the ground floor has newly sanded and fitted reclaimed floorboards throughout, many of which were saved from the original house, with additional boards saved from nearby Sway Place Manor on it's demolition.
